Stories in the Dust deliver far-reaching projects and workshop programmes within communities across the UK. Anna and Iona have extensive experience in facilitating and collaborating with young people and the workshops are always bespoke, accessible, adaptive and responsive, enabling all participants to engage with the work.

 

When delivered alongside touring shows, they call this approach Slow Touring

 

Slow Touring serves to embed the work into communities by delivering bespoke workshops in schools and community groups in the lead up to the show being performed in local venues (or in non theatre spaces).

It prevents Stories in the Dust from simply flying in and out of an area with a show and instead enables them to make their work relevant and impactful for their audiences/participants. 

 

Workshops often result in a audio installations, elevating young people's thoughts and feelings through our project Young Voices.

Stories in the Dust also deliver at conferences, often alongside Professor Ian Williams from the Applied Environmental Science Department at Southampton University. Their talks explore their co-collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to making work, and the benefits and challenges that come from combining the arts and sciences.
